No baseball pitcher would be worth a darn without a catcher who could handle the hot fastball – Casey Stengel
11/23/14 - Congratulations to Coach Eric Smith on leading his Python high school team to win the CCYB 15/16 title. This team is comprised on 13-16u players who came together to win their last 6 games in a row, while giving up only 5 runs in their 4 playoff games by combining strong pitching with excellent defense. Alex Kent, Jeffrey Pyne, David Kotin and Alex Rivas lead the offence in the two final games and Kotin, Kent and Mark Kelley were outstanding on the mound.
Other players contributing to the team success this season were Adam Lampe, Devin Alessi, Brett Zenk, John and Jason Carrig, Ryo Kojima, Jake Reynolds, Mark Hill, Andrew Flach, Jacob Estrada, Sean Carroll, Steven Rea, Josh Donaldson and Eric Livingstone.
Coach Smiths approach to the team this season was to allow his players to play in positions other than their primary high school slots, providing lots of reps in other positions. For the 4 non-HS players, Coach Smith placed them in positions that he felt they would excel in at the high school level. During the last 6 games of the season, Coach Smith moved his HS players back to their regular positions and the team responded with 6 straight wins and a CCYB title!

Pitcher of the Year Award – The Guy the team can always count on to make the right pitch at the right time, to win that big game and to give his team the performance that they need to pick them up. He will shut down a rally and bring the game home.
Most Valuable Player Award – The “Man”. He makes all of the routine plays and he is the guy who can get that hit, or makes that extraordinary play when it really counts. He is the guy who you want up in that game-winning situation or for the ball to be hit to when the game is on the line.
